Sze (they/them) is a documentary and experimental dance filmmaker who observes alternate histories, identities and social issues as expressed in the body, movement and art. They are also a dance maker, arts journalist, activist, and parent. Mentors include Tan Pin Pin (Singapore) and Alex Reuben (UK), and they are a member of the Cinemovement Collective (Singapore) founded by Jeremy Chua and Elysa Wendi.
Sze has received grants from the Singapore Film Council, National Arts Council of Singapore, Purin Pictures, the Asian Cinema Fund, and Dance Films Association USA. They have presented projects at Cannes Docs, the DOK Leipzig Co-Pro market, Sheffield Meetmarket, Docs by the Sea and the Singapore International Film Festival’s Southeast Asian Film Lab. Since 2016, their films and installations have screened at the Singapore International Festival of the Arts, Signes de Nuit, Screen.dance Scotland, the London International Screendance Festival, Dança em Foco and others.
