NewEnglandFilm.com’s Online New England Film Festival is an online film festival that runs between the day after Labor Day in September through mid-October each year on the website NewEnglandFilm.com. Founded in 2009, the festival features New England short (under 30-minute) films in all genres—drama, comedy, thriller, documentary, horror, animation, music video, family, experimental, and sci-fi. We welcome films by all filmmakers, especially those from under-represented groups including people of color, women, and LGBTQ+ filmmakers!
All screenings are online only, but we typically host a private invite-only networking event for filmmakers.
***2021 Festival Notes***
The Online New England Film Festival will be on hiatus in 2021. In place of our festival, we will be hosting a retrospective of some of our best past films from the festivals over the past decade plus. Film free to reach out if you have questions.
Jury award prizes are chosen by festival staff, and audience award prizes are determined by number of views in categories such as animation, documentary, drama, comedy, etc.
All films featured in the festival:
* Must have a local connection to New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont), meaning that it was filmed there, a cast/crew lives or lived there or was educated in New England. Ask your cast & crew—you can often find an unexpected connection!
* Must be under 30 minutes.
