Mustak Muzahid is a young Bangladeshi independent filmmaker from the Rangpur division. Born on 27 November 2000, he studied at Rangpur Polytechnic Institute.
He began his filmmaking journey in April 2019 and has since directed several short films, a mid-length film, and a documentary. His works have been officially selected, nominated, and awarded at various national and international film festivals.
Among his notable works are Juyari (2021), Palabar Rasta Nei (2022), Interview (2023), Prothasiddho (2023), Journey Beyond Convention (2024, unreleased), Mahfil (2025, unreleased), and 22 Years; A Life of Fight, Fire & Farewell (2025).
His short film Prothasiddho earned the Young Talent Award at the 16th International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh, along with several international honors including Best Short Film at the Indie World Film Festival 2023, and a nomination for Best Indie Short at the Cannes World Film Festival 2023.
Earlier films like Juyari and Palabar Rasta Nei were officially selected and recognized at multiple international festivals including the Dhaka International Film Festival, Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (USA), and Paus Premieres Festival (UK).
Mustak believes in telling human stories through simple yet powerful visuals and often says — “I believe in making films with whatever I have.”
