Mustafa Yeşil was born in 1985 in the Suruç (Turkey) district of Urfa. He is a graduate of Ankara University, Faculty of Journalism. He is also a journalist and photographer and completed his master's degree in Kurdish Language and Culture at Mardin Artuklu University.
He studied cinema at Cegerxwin Cinema Academy in Diyarbakır. He directed and scripted documentaries broadcast on television channels.
