Mayur Dhamapurkar is a versatile filmmaker, writer, and creative professional. He completed his degree in Direction in Film and Television from the University of Mumbai in 2016. His journey began in the theatre, where he made an impact on audiences by writing and directing one-act plays.
His passion for storytelling led him to the world of film production. He has created notable short films such as Mogra, Midnight Story, Say Cheese, Moments, Adjustment, and MinKeen. Mogra won several awards at national and international film festivals, while Midnight Story and Say Cheese received nominations at various festivals. He has independently written, directed, and produced all of these short films. Currently, he is working on the post-production of Black Forest, a short film shot on an iPhone.
Mayur has also made significant contributions to TV and digital media. He worked as a creative supervisor and reality show producer on programs like Superstar Singer Marathi (2024), Sur Nawa Dhyas Nawa (2022-23), and Kon Honar Karodpati (2022). Additionally, he served as a creative assistant on the Marathi series Chhoti Bayochi Mothi Swapna (2023) and directed segments for the Map of Me Mumbai Morning Reality Show.
In the advertising and corporate sector, he has worked on major projects for brands like Glenmark Pharma, Dabur Meswak, and Aditya Birla Health Insurance. He also created a documentary for the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, on the folk art Dhangari Gaja. Furthermore, he contributed to successful projects like the Mangrove Documentary and the Tata Powers Documentary.
Mayur’s contribution as a teacher is also notable. He has mentored students in film and theatre production at institutions such as Siddharth College and SCH Theatre. Under his guidance, aspiring storytellers from the new generation have been inspired.
For Mayur, filmmaking is not just an art form, but a medium to powerfully reflect human emotions and experiences, and he dedicates himself fully to his work in this field.
