María Lorenzo Hernández (1977) is a Professor of Animation at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), and a member of the Spanish Academy of Cinematic Arts and Sciences. With a career spanning over two decades, she has been a key figure in Spanish experimental animation.
Her work has received significant institutional recognition, including a Goya Award nomination for 'The Night Ocean' (2015) and a Goya shortlisting for 'Impromptu' (2017). Her films have been showcased at the world’s most prestigious festivals, such as Annecy, Zagreb, Animafest, and Stuttgart. Notably, she served as a member of the Short Film Selection Committee for the Annecy International Animation Festival in 2005.
Her filmography includes acclaimed titles like 'Portrait of D.' (2004), 'Urban Sphinx' (2020), and 'Felina' (2024). Her latest work, 'Microcosmos' (2025), premiered at Animac Lleida, continuing her exploration of the boundaries between visual art and music.
