Mandi Maxwell is an emerging WGC-eligible screenwriter, script consultant, script analyst, and Pochinko clown with 20 years of experience in the film industry. She is currently contracted as a screenwriter for two LGBTQ+ feature films with a Canadian production company, as well as working as a script analyst for the Female Eye Film Festival.
Additionally, her LGBTQ+ mental health-focused feature script Feeling Unreal was an Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition second rounder, ScreenCraft Screenwriting Fellowship semifinalist, and was also shortlisted for the Sundance Development Track. Her LGBTQ+ coming-of-age fantasy/adventure feature Metagame was a quarterfinalist (top 3%) in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest as well.
Mandi is also the founder, creative director, lead instructor, and script consultant for Script & Story, an emerging online training platform for screenwriters and storytellers. There, she gives script coverage to screenwriters and facilitates her one-of-a-kind intensive Writing Through Play as per her extensive training in Pochinko clown. She is in the process of building additional courses such as The Fundamentals of Screenwriting & Storytelling and Writer Self-Care, to name a few!
Mandi’s mission as a queer screenwriter with a past history of trauma, anxiety, and depression is to represent the LGBTQ+ and mental health communities in her screenwriting, bringing more inclusivity to the screen and telling raw, authentic stories from her lived experiences and from her heart.
When she’s not writing scripts, giving coverage, creating her own content, or making a fool of herself as her clown Tootise, she can be found rummaging for treasure in thrift stores, solving puzzles in escape rooms, or throwing plastic spoons during screenings of The Room.
