Festival’s submissions are open to films applying all animation techniques, including combinations with live action and documentary. Over 50% of the production must be animated, and the Festival reserves the right to determine whether an entry qualifies as animation.
Films should be completed after January 1, 2025. Films screened at previous festival will not be taken into consideration. Short films (maximum running time 20 minutes) can be submitted to following competition categories:
- International Competition
- Ukrainian Competition (only for Ukrainian animation films)
- Commissioned Films
Out-of-competition categories:
- Experimental Animation and Video Art
- Animation created for and by kids and teens
- Ladies first (for female directors)
The Festival reserves the right to determine whether an entry qualifies for the chosen category. There is no entry fee.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
- For each film the applicant is required to fill out an online entry form via FilmFreeway
- The online application should contain additional materials: director’s photograph; 3 still images from the film (min. 300 dpi); dialogue list in English; film trailer.
- The submitted work must be in the final edited version.
- Unfinished films will not be taken into consideration.
- Films with dialogue or narration in languages other than English should have English subtitles.
RIGHTS, OBLIGATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Each applicant declares to be the author or rights owner of the submitted film(s) and to own all literary, dramatic and musical rights.
- Once a film has been selected and invited to participate in the Festival, it cannot be withdrawn from the Festival program.
- For the promotion of the Festival, the organizers may screen the films from the festival archive after the competition within LINOLEUM on Tour program. The aim of this program to showcase and popularize best short animation in Ukrainian cities, where the possibilities to see festival films are very confined.
- The Festival has the right to use all materials related to the submission as well as a film excerpt up to 10 per cent of the total length of the film that will not exceed more than 3 minutes for promotional purposes.
- The Festival does not pay screening fees for films selected into competition categories.
ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
Participation in the Festival, and its film submission process, implies acceptance, without reservation, to the terms of the present regulations. An entry form is valid without a signature and a seal.
КОНКУРС АІ-АНІМАЦІЇ ДЛЯ УКРАЇНСЬКИХ АВТОРІВ/ОК (HOLYWATER TECH x LINOLEUM)
До участі приймаються короткометражні анімаційні фільми, створені з використанням технологій штучного інтелекту (AI). Права, обов’язки та відповідальність щодо участі в цьому конкурсі відповідають загальним фестивальним правилам, описаним вище.
Переможець конкурсу отримає 2000$.
Вимоги до фільмів:
- До участі приймаються анімаційні фільми від українських авторів будь-якого стилю та техніки, у створенні яких AI-інструменти було використано щонайменше 80% візуального матеріалу.
- Тривалість фільму — від 1 до 5 хвилин, включно з титрами.
- Фільм має бути створений або завершений у період 2024–2026 років.
- До конкурсу приймаються роботи, створені як повністю за допомогою AI, так і у поєднанні з традиційними техніками анімації (2D, 3D, stop-motion, motion graphics, hybrid).
Подати фільм можна до 1 липня включно
Творча участь людини (Human Creative Involvement)
Фільми, подані до програми, повинні демонструвати суттєву творчу участь людини у розробці та створенні роботи. Використання інструментів штучного інтелекту допускається як частина творчого процесу, однак фільм має відображати чітке авторське бачення, художню концепцію та творчі рішення, прийняті автором або командою авторів. Ключовим критерієм оцінювання є фінальний результат роботи.
У разі потреби організатори можуть запросити короткий опис творчого процесу та ролі AI-інструментів у виробництві фільму.
Щодо використання AI
У формі подачі автори повинні вказати (у розділі Director Statement):
- які AI-інструменти або моделі були використані;
- на яких етапах виробництва застосовувався AI (генерація зображень, анімація, монтаж, звук, сценарій тощо).
Ненадання цієї інформації може стати підставою для відхилення заявки або виключення фільму з програми.
Подаючи фільм, автор/ка підтверджує, що:
- має всі необхідні права на використані зображення, звук, музику та інші матеріали;
- йому /їй належать майнові права або ліцензійні повноваження на використання комп’ютерної програми або AI-інструмента з використанням якого було створено фільм;
- використання AI-інструментів не порушує авторських прав третіх осіб;
- робота не використовує пряме копіювання або імітацію стилю конкретних художників без їхньої згоди.
Організатори залишають за собою право відхилити роботу у разі порушення авторських прав або етичних норм.
