Leyla T. Rosario has over 10 years of advertising, and production experience in virtual reality, live action, short docs/docu-style, branded videos, and animated content for an array of clients. She has worked for worldwide advertising agencies such as JWT, Huge, and mcgarrybowen, as a Producer, and independently for brands as a Director, and Writer.
Leyla is currently in post-production for on a music video she directed for up-and-coming, TIDAL (new artist nominated), Olu Bliss.
In 2017, her short film “Cuba Skate” won Best Documentary at the Official Latino Short Film Festival, Facebook hired her to direct a :15 spot for their brand (see 2018 press here), and her script was selected to be funded in a short film competition for LG Mobile, in partnership with the 55th Annual NYFF.
Leyla directed her script, “She Was Afraid To Fly”, a 5-minute drama about a mother who is experiencing early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. Her daughter is at the crossroads between frustration, and empathy for her mother’s condition. See press here. Leyla, and team were nominated for a Webby award on their notable virtual reality short film for beauty brand SK-II (ad agency Huge), grossing $20 million in sales (in one day) during China’s Singles Day event 11/11/2016; breaking (company) P&G’s record in sales.
An NYU Tisch School of the Arts Alumni, Leyla majored in Film and Television with a focus in cinematography. Her camera work on “Smell the Coffee” aired on HBO Latino in 2010. When Leyla is directing, she also works very closely with her Director of Photography on making sure the image/framing is visually compelling, and will give the audience something to feel. Leyla has empowered women to cycle, leading women’s bicycle rides with CycloFemme. In addition Leyla is an abstract painter, working with canvas and acrylic materials. Being an only child, from the Bronx of New York City with very strong Puerto Rican roots gave Leyla this hunger to get out and see the world, and make a difference however she can via arts, and storytelling.
