Laurent graduated in 1977 from the CLCF, the oldest private Film school in France.
He started his artistic career in the music industry, first working for a major record store in Paris. He then opened his own record store in La Baule. His passion for music led him to produce concerts and festivals, and he also became the promoter of a Jazz band. After a few years in Brittany, he went back to Paris where he was hired by Warner France to become sales manager for the Greater Paris Area.
In the 1980s, when the French company KIS launched its one-hour mini photolabs, he was recruited to export the concept to North America. He left France to start a new career in Canada.
In 2001, he settled in Vancouver, BC, and started Brican, a company that marketed the ‘Mediadoc’ software for chiropractors that Laurent had developed.
The company was successful, but Laurent longed to go back to his first passion: filmmaking. In 2010 he co-created Citrus Pie Media Group, a company that produces corporate videos. Today, CPMG has 650 clients in North America, mostly in the Health and Wellness sector.
In 2013, he produced his first feature-length documentary, ‘Your Second Fifty’ a motivational piece that demonstrates that in spite of prejudices and popular beliefs, there is a life after 50, and it can be amazing! The film was shot over an 18-month period, in 6 countries on 3 continents, and showcases 40 fascinating characters. It has been shown in motivational seminars throughout North America since 2015.
In 2016, he produced – partly thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign - his second feature-length documentary: To Life, Death and Beyond: the Music of Magma, a tribute to the cult French progressive rock band.
