Laura Poindexter is a bold woman who had no other choice but to follow her dreams. Laura is a native New Yorker (Harlem) who has also lived in Baltimore, MD and now resides in Atlanta, GA. Laura has always had a love for the Arts but she would have to experience some of the darker sides of life before arriving at her here and now.
Unable to live with “what if” she packed a suitcase and took a twenty-four hour bus ride from Baltimore to Atlanta. Arriving in Atlanta as a 50 year old, untrained talent she had her work cut out for her. In an industry where age, race and gender play a huge part in one's ability to succeed, the odds were stacked against her. With only $32.00 in her pocket, and no solid plan for success; what was she to do? Laura did what she has always done, she trusted her gut.
Merging her determination, focus and passion, wisdom and experience she set out on a journey to reinvent herself. At an age when most people are thinking about retiring Laura is just getting started. As an actress she has landed supporting and lead roles in movie shorts, feature length, independent films and web-series. She can also be found on Netflix in Killer Mike's “Trigger Warning” SE1/EP4 playing herself. Additionally, Laura is writing and producing her own content, writing for other projects and is always critically thinking about her next move.
