Lakes Noir Film Festival is a Competitive International Film Festival entirely dedicated to the genres of Thriller, Noir, and Crime (including Italian Giallo, Poliziottesco, and Spy Stories), with a strong emphasis on prestige and artistic quality.

The event takes place in the stunning setting of Luino, overlooking the shores of Lake Maggiore. This exceptional location creates a unique atmosphere of contrast: the natural elegance of the lake and its historic vistas merge with the darkness and mystery of the stories on screen, offering filmmakers and the audience an open-air set of rare beauty.

The Festival is organized and promoted by 7Laghi Cinema in collaboration with SG Academy. This synergy connects the festival world directly with active film production, creating a professional environment where passion for the genre meets the real-world film industry.

Thanks to the partnership with the LTV network, the Festival offers an extraordinary promotional showcase. For every selected work, the relative trailer will be promoted across the platform's channels, which boast over 460,000 monthly users. This activity ensures directors viral distribution of their promotional material and high-level journalistic coverage within the international circuit.

Structure and Exclusive Selection
The Program
The Festival spans four intense days, from September 24th to 27th, 2026, alternating screenings, debates with Noir experts, and sessions dedicated to the narrative techniques of the genre, culminating in the final Gala evening.

Selection: Quality over Quantity
Lakes Noir has consciously chosen the path of excellence. We are not a mass-market festival, and we do not seek a high volume of entries; our search is focused on pure talent and the most powerful cinematic visions.

To ensure maximum prestige for every work and total attention from the jury, we have set a rigorous limit: only 12 films in total will reach the final stage. Being selected for Lakes Noir means becoming part of an extremely restricted circle of international cinematic excellence.

Il Festival si articola in quattro giorni intensi, dal 24 al 27 Settembre 2026, alternando proiezioni, dibattiti con esperti del Noir e sessioni dedicate alle tecniche narrative del genere, culminando nella serata finale di Gala.

La Selezione: Qualità sopra la Massa
Lakes Noir ha scelto consapevolmente la strada dell'eccellenza. Non siamo un festival di massa e non cerchiamo grandi volumi di iscritti: la nostra è una ricerca mirata al talento puro e alle visioni cinematografiche più potenti.

Per garantire il massimo prestigio a ogni opera e un’attenzione totale da parte della giuria, abbiamo stabilito un limite rigoroso: solo 12 film in totale arriveranno alla fase finale. Essere selezionati al Lakes Noir significa far parte di un circolo ristrettissimo di eccellenza cinematografica internazionale.

The Golden Swan – Best Noir Feature Film: The top honor for narrative and technical excellence in works over 60 minutes.

The Silver Swan – Best Noir Short Film: Dedicated to the best short-form work under 30 minutes.

Career Achievement Award (The Career Swan): The highest honor for a legendary figure who has made a lasting impact on genre cinema.

Best Leading Actor: For the performance that best embodies the tension and depth of the Noir genre.

Best Leading Actress: For the ability to convey the mystery and complexity of the genre's key roles.

Best Supporting Actor: For a vital contribution to the construction of atmosphere and narrative.

Best Supporting Actress: For excellence in bringing life and soul to crucial supporting characters.

Best Director: A technical award for stylistic vision and excellence in cast direction.

Best Noir Screenplay: For originality and structure within the thriller/crime plot.

Il Cigno d'Oro – Miglior Lungometraggio Noir: Il premio assoluto per l'eccellenza narrativa e tecnica in opere sopra i 60 minuti.

Il Cigno d'Argento – Miglior Cortometraggio Noir: Dedicato alla migliore opera breve sotto i 30 minuti.

Cigno alla Carriera (Career Achievement Award): Il massimo onore per una figura storica che ha segnato il cinema di genere.

Miglior Attore Protagonista: Per l'interpretazione che meglio incarna la tensione e la profondità del Noir.

Miglior Attrice Protagonista: Per la capacità di trasmettere il mistero e la complessità dei ruoli chiave del genere.

Miglior Attore Non Protagonista: Per il fondamentale apporto alla costruzione dell'atmosfera e della narrazione.

Miglior Attrice Non Protagonista: Per l'eccellenza nel dare corpo e anima a figure di supporto determinanti.

Miglior Regia: Premio tecnico per la visione stilistica e la direzione del cast.

Miglior Sceneggiatura Noir: Per l'originalità e la struttura del plot thriller/crime.

Miglior Fotografia (Noir Aesthetic): Un premio specifico per chi meglio interpreta il gioco di luci e ombre tipico del genere.

Menzione Speciale della Giuria: Per l'innovazione linguistica o il trattamento di tematiche sociali rilevanti.

Rules & Terms

Lakes Noir International Film Festival - Rules & Terms
Eligible Genres: The festival is exclusively dedicated to Noir, Thriller, Crime, Giallo, Mystery, and Spy Story genres. Works belonging to other genres will not be considered.

Production Date: Only works completed after January 1st, 2024, are eligible for submission.

Language and Subtitles: Entries are welcome in any language.

Pre-selection phase: If the original language is not Italian, the film must have subtitles in either Italian or English.

Final Selection (Public Screenings): For all films selected as finalists, Italian subtitles are mandatory. The cost and responsibility for translation and synchronization of subtitles lie solely with the participant/producer.

Projection Formats: Finalists must provide a high-resolution screening copy. Accepted formats:

DCP (Digital Cinema Package) – Highly recommended.

Apple ProRes 422 HQ or H.264/H.265 (High Bitrate).
All files must be sent via a secure download link (e.g., WeTransfer, MyAirBridge) within 15 days of the selection notification.

Runtime:

Feature Films: Minimum 60 minutes.

Short Films: Maximum 30 minutes.

Copyright: The participant declares to be the rightful owner of the film's rights and to possess all necessary clearances (music, images, talent). The Festival is not responsible for any copyright infringements.

Selection: The decision of the Selection Committee and the Jury is final and binding. Finalists will be notified by August 31st, 2026.

Promotional Use: By submitting a film, the author authorizes Lakes Noir and LTV to use trailers, excerpts (max 2 minutes), and photographic material for promotional, press, and television/social media communication purposes.

Entry Fees:

Feature Films: €20.00

Short Films: €10.00
Shipping costs for any physical materials or hard drives are the responsibility of the participant.

Acceptance: Submission to the festival implies full acceptance of these regulations.

Generi Ammessi: Il festival è dedicato esclusivamente ai generi Noir, Thriller, Crime, Poliziesco, Mystery e Spy Story. Opere appartenenti ad altri generi non verranno prese in considerazione.

Data di Produzione: Sono ammesse opere completate dopo il 1° Gennaio 2024.
Lingua e Sottotitoli: Le opere possono essere in qualsiasi lingua. Per la fase di pre-selezione, se la lingua originale non è l'italiano, il film deve avere sottotitoli in italiano o in inglese. Tuttavia, per i film selezionati alla fase finale (proiezioni pubbliche), è obbligatoria la presenza dei sottotitoli in lingua italiana. La traduzione e la sincronizzazione dei sottotitoli sono a totale carico e responsabilità del partecipante.
Formati di Proiezione: In caso di selezione finale, i partecipanti dovranno fornire una copia di proiezione in alta risoluzione. I formati accettati sono:
DCP (Digital Cinema Package) – caldamente raccomandato per le proiezioni cinematografiche.
Apple ProRes 422 HQ oppure H.264/H.265 (Alto Bitrate).
Tutti i file di proiezione devono essere inviati tramite un link di download sicuro (es. WeTransfer, MyAirBridge) entro e non oltre 15 giorni dalla notifica di selezione.

Durata:

Lungometraggi: minimo 60 minuti.

Cortometraggi: massimo 30 minuti.

Diritti d'Autore: Il partecipante dichiara di essere il legittimo proprietario dei diritti dell'opera e di avere tutte le liberatorie necessarie (musica, immagini, attori). Il Festival non è responsabile per eventuali violazioni di copyright.

Selezione: La decisione del Comitato di Selezione e della Giuria è finale e inappellabile. I finalisti verranno contattati entro la fine di Agosto 2026.

Utilizzo Promozionale: Inviando il film, l'autore autorizza il Lakes Noir e LTV a utilizzare trailer, estratti (max 2 minuti) e materiale fotografico per scopi promozionali, stampa e comunicazione televisiva/social.

Per la prima edizione del LAKES NOIR Film Festival, sono previste le seguenti quote di iscrizione:

Nota: Eventuali costi di spedizione per materiali fisici o hard drive (se richiesti) rimangono a carico del partecipante.
