I grew up an aspiring musician, but also held a secret thirst for acting. During my youth I took up several acting classes and performed in numerous stage shows in and around the West Midlands. But when I hit my teens, I gave up acting to pursue a career in music. In 2006 I received my music diploma from Stratford-Upon-Avon College, and was also awarded the Stratford Herald Award For Music. From here I sought to compose, and in 2010 I graduated from Coventry University with a music composition degree, and wrote and performed my first musical 'The Girl With The Crystal Heart'. Alongside this I underwent a screenwriting course, where I discovered a new passion for script writing, and wrote my first screenplay 'Amicus Off Colour'. After graduating, however, the writing took a back seat as I believed I was destined for a musical career. I worked for several theatrical companies, including Birmingham Music and Operatic Society and Solihull Society of Arts. My roles varied from music director to house band leader. Alongside these I performed in various rock and folk bands, touring gigs and festivals across Britain. But my creative itch was not yet scratched. Something felt off, and in my early twenties I realised what it was. I didn't want to be a musician. I didn't want to be a performer. I wanted to create the performance. I wanted to be a writer.
As my passion for music deteriorated, I branched out to explore new writing opportunities. After founding my own theatre company in 2014, I began showcasing my plays across the Midlands. From filming and editing my shows, I discovered a love for film making, and later that year created my first film 'You Are Not Alone'.
Early 2015, an excerpt from my screenplay 'Haphazard' was published in Solihull Writers 'Anthology 1'. In 2016 I was claimed winner of international competition The British Theatre Challenge for my play 'The Gangster Game'. This was performed in West End London and filmed by Mini Mammoth Films, then soon after was published by Lazy Bee Scripts. In the winter of 2017, I was nominated for 2 Stratford Fringie Awards for my play 'Drugged Love (A Night In Midsummer)'. In 2018 I won the Nomad Drama Write Off award for my play 'Time Telescope', which was then published by Lazy Bee Scripts.
I recently retired from theatre to fully focus on my filming career. I am now writing, directing, editing, and doing cinematography for my own original films. I have had several music videos officially selected for British film festivals, along with screenplays being claimed finalists. Now, as I fully delve into the world of filmmaking, I continue my journey with numerous short films, and aim to create feature length movies in the near future.
My love for music hasn't completely vanished. I have composed soundtracks for many of my films. I am currently writing another musical, and also, my first novel.
