Kinovertikal is an International Festival and Competition for Films directed by Children and Young Adults that has been held since 2014. Only fiction / non-fiction / animated films whose directors are children, teenagers and young adults aged 5 to 22 may take part in the festival. During the festival (held every October in the city of Saratov) young authors participate in master classes and creative meetings with famous Russian filmmakers where they can receive professional advice from them and get acquainted with like-minded authors from other countries and various regions of Russia.
The president of the festival is Garri Bardin, a famous artist and director, winner of the Cannes Film Festival and numerous Russian film awards.
The guests of honor of the festival include well-known Russian theater and film actors, film directors and producers, film critics, etc.
The festival is attended not only by authors from Russia, but also from near and far abroad: Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Brazil, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Canada, China, India, Spain, Iran, Malaysia, Poland, the Republic of Belarus, the USA, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, France, the Philippines, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Sri Lanka and many other countries. In total, more than 2,200 films made by 7000 young authors have already been shown at the festival.
The winners and runners-up of the festival are determined by a jury consisting of children and young adults who have been declared winners and runners-up of the previous festival; their age does not exceed 22 years.
