As Nepal’s largest and longest-running film festival, kimff has evolved into a celebration of the cinematic art form. While rooted in the mountains, our scope has expanded to embrace the widest definition of storytelling. The festival showcases an eclectic lineup of films that push visual boundaries, addressing everything from the resilience of remote communities to the complexities of identity and climate justice.

We are committed to bringing fresh cinema to Kathmandu; therefore, priority is given to films that are Nepal Premieres, offering our audience of over 8,000 enthusiasts a first look at ground-breaking global works.

At its heart, kimff is a space for dialogue. Through 'Nepal Panorama,' we champion the distinct voice of Nepali cinema, providing a stage for both aspiring and established directors to explore the country’s diverse and authentic stories, cultural and socio-political terrain. Supported by the Film Development Board, Nepal Tourism Board, and Kathmandu Metropolitan City, kimff transforms the capital into a center for creative exchange, featuring filmmaker forums, workshops, and the vibrant Kathmandu Doc Lab.

Organized by the KIMFF Foundation, the festival remains dedicated to cultivating an informed and creative society through the universal language of film.

Receiving the Best Short Film award at Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (kimff) was a deeply emotional and meaningful experience for me. Morî is a quiet yet resilient voice, and to see it embraced by such a carefully curated, thought-provoking selection of films meant the world to me. The kimff team goes far beyond organizing a festival they create a space for dialogue, cultural exchange, and mutual respect. Their warmth, communication, and care for each filmmaker was truly exceptional. I feel honored and grateful to have been a part of this inspiring and visionary festival.
