Karar is a film industry worker from a small rural town in southern Iraq. He studied cinema at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad. He is interested in Contemplative realist cinema with a minimalist style. His background as a sound recordist on several films and Tv series has refined his directorial vision and deepened his understanding of the filmmaking process.
"A lot of narrative films leave you no space for anything else but eating popcorn. I want to go in the complete opposite direction. I have to evacuate all psychology, to be less a protagonist and more a presence."
