José David Apel nació el 21 de marzo de 1984 en la ciudad de Santa Fe, Argentina. Estudió Cine y Televisión en el Instituto Superior de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales Fernando Birri. Es realizador audiovisual, músico y escritor. Participó en clínicas internacionales como Bolivia Lab, LabGuion Cinefilia, Incubadora Documental y Gleyzer INCAA y FELT (NY). Es Máster en Cine Documental por la Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba (2022), donde realizó como tesis el largometraje documental La historia de un marinero. Es director de los largometrajes documentales La alegoría de la cueva y Una escuela en el cielo, un pueblo en el suelo. Ha publicado las obras literarias Montefiore, El amor existe atando ligas en el corazón y Esto no es una ficción, y editó tres discos de estudio. Fundó la productora Pirámides y Muros, espacio desde el cual desarrolla proyectos que vinculan cine, literatura y música, con una mirada autoral centrada en la memoria, el territorio y la identidad. Actualmente trabaja como productor audiovisual, guionista, músico y director independiente.

José David Apel was born on March 21, 1984, in the city of Santa Fe, Argentina. He studied Film and Television at the Fernando Birri Higher Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts. He is an audiovisual filmmaker, musician, and writer.

He has participated in international film programs and clinics such as Bolivia Lab, LabGuion Cinefilia, Incubadora Documental, Gleyzer INCAA, and FELT (New York).

He holds a Master’s degree in Documentary Filmmaking from the International School of Film and Television (EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba (2022), where he completed the documentary feature film The Story of a Sailor as his thesis project.

He is the director of the documentary feature films The Allegory of the Cave and A School in the Sky, a People on the Ground.

He has published the literary works Montefiore, Love Exists Tying Garters in the Heart, and This Is Not a Fiction, and has released three studio albums.

He founded the production company Piramides y Muros, a platform from which he develops projects that connect cinema, literature, and music, with an authorial perspective focused on memory, territory, and identity.

He currently works as an audiovisual producer, screenwriter, musician, and independent film director.

He has edited two literary works: "Montefiore" (Editorial Croquis 2009) and "El amor existe atando ligas en el corazón" (Milena Caserola 2010).
He is currently in the process of editing her third literary work.

He currently works as an audiovisual producer, musician, screenwriter and director. "La Alegoría de la cueva" is his first documentary feature film.
