The most important thread in my work is a discussion of how trauma from the Latinx diaspora affects Immigrant families including the oppression, poverty, isolation, and the criminalization of Latinos.
Jon Ayon is a Mestizo filmmaker based out of Oakland, CA. He is originally from Los Angeles, where his parents immigrated to in the seventies; his father from Mexico and his mother from El Salvador. He holds a B.A. in Cinema from San Francisco State University and has directed 11 short films.
As a writer, director, cinematographer, and editor, Mr. Ayon has several years of experience producing content for various platforms including social media, interactive websites, broadcast, and theatrical premieres. He has created short and long-form documentaries and short narrative films, music videos, branded content, and NGO media campaigns.
His work has earned him several awards from various organizations including the Northern California Chapter of the Emmys, the Annenberg Foundation, the Los Angeles Caucus for Producers, Writers, and Directors, and American Zoetrope.
