Born in Argentina in 1993, Joel Emmanuel Cortina Suárez is a director and screenwriter educated in Film & Television Production at Centro de Investigación Cinematográfica. He participated in 2018 at the Berlinale Talents Buenos Aires, and won a scholarship to the Vanessa Ragone's Documentary Essay Workshop with the support of Fondo Nacional de las Artes, starting a three-term course in the same year. Since 2020, he is serving as a programmer at the Hurlingham Film Festival and he is writing articles for "Desde otro encuadre", a film blog he also edits. He is currently post-producing his first documentary full-length film as a director and screenwriter, shot with financing from Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales. At the same time, he is pursuing a BA in Documentary Film Production at National University of San Martín's School of Arts and Culture, a public institution that combines the theoretical-technical training of a professional school with the academic knowledge of an important university research center, where intellectuals, art critics and artists-in-training interact with each other. What a center of these characteristics provides is a bombastic curriculum to impact the competition for good work in the audio-visual world.
