Films have the power to show us other worlds, and an ability to reflect humanity, and forge connections between us. What I hope to achieve most through storytelling is to pass that great gift along to others.
Joe Gietl is a writer, director, and producer from Upstate, New York. He has directed several short films that have played on the festival circuit, written numerous screenplays, and produced both narrative and commercial work. In 2022, Joe produced the first ever adaptation of Stephen King's "The Monkey" slated to release this Spring. In addition, he also produced a documentary entitled Mariah: Acts of Resistance, that is currently beginning its festival run. In January 2023, Joe completed production for phase one of his most ambitious project yet, entitled 'The Fledgling'. 'The Fledgling' is a proof of concept short for an eight part episodic mini-series that was written over the course of two years beginning in 2020. Joe also recently published a children's book version of this story scheduled to release in the fall.
