We are a collaborative duo obsessed with creating original work
Based in Light and Shadow studios, Selskar street, Wexford town, we came together to explore the limits of imagination through painting, drawing, animation and film, beyond culture, gender and ego; engaging the viewer in a philosophical journey, questioning connectivity, energy and our place in the world.
This collaboration arose out of a mutual admiration and respect for each other’s work and art practice and was formed in the Summer of 2019 by artists Mirona Mara and Jonathan Murphy. Mirona's individual practice is drawing based, with a special interest in stop motion drawing animation (The Outfitter, 2018), (Rise again, 2020). Jonathan's practice focuses on layered silhouette light boxes sculptures, painting and film, having directed and produced the short silent film ‘What becomes...’ (2018, funded by Creative Ireland).
The concept behind our collaboration is to honour the work as being of the utmost importance, more so than either contributor. The work alternates between realities encompassing the micro and the macro cosmos, constantly in flux, discussing such things as Archetypes, the concept of duality, and the inter-connectedness of all things.
