Twice a year, the jellyFEST celebrates original storytellers and audiences. Our biannual program includes live action, animation and documentary short and feature films showcasing emerging new voices and fresh perspectives. An award show follows the last screening along with an after-party focused on selected music video entries.

Since launch, we have screened films that have gained critical recognition and acclaim, thus continuing to reach new audiences worldwide.

jellyFEST was founded as a protest festival. What do we mean as a protest festival? Well, filmmakers have grown tired of how the festivals they had been submitting to seemed to only be focused on screening as many films as possible, instead of worrying about the overall quality of the films they accepted and paid very little attention to promoting the filmmakers selected.

For that reason, we decided to create a festival with a focus on promoting filmmakers and their works, as well as upholding a high-quality selection standard, and all while having as much fun as we possibly can to create interaction between attendees to pursue their passion.

At the jellyFEST, we strive to focus on quality cinema, artist promotion, and festival attendance to shine a light on the films and filmmakers that the mainstream audiences have a hard time seeing and low-quality festivals frequently overlook and undervalue. Through our bi-annual competition, we aim to promote those who dare to be jelly in artistic creation.

In order for us to properly judge each film, it may take some time for the submissions to be decided. Although this may seem like a long wait, rest assured it's because we are taking our time and are carefully judging each and every eligible submission.

SCREENINGS & EVENTS

We are a biannual festival, we hold live screenings in front of a LIVE AUDIENCE and selected jury, consisting of film fans and industry personnel. These screenings aim to showcase some of the films submitted, as well as act as the voting process for the Jury Awards.

Generally, the films which are selected as finalists will be amongst those screened at the festival, but the lineup and screening selection may vary.

Semi-finalists will not screen unless otherwise notified. However, they will receive a laurel for promotional use.

The venue may vary. Currently, the events are held in and around Los Angeles, California, but may take place elsewhere in other states. Jury size will also vary depending on the venue. We aim at keeping the events intimate to allow the chance for various filmmakers and other industry personnel to be able to easily meet, network and discuss the screened films.

  • Great new Festival. I really appreciate the excellent communication that went on between me and Jelly Fest. It is obvious they are looking for the best new films and I am honored that my film, 'Conflict' was a Semi-Finalist! I hope to bring my films to Jelly Fest in the future.

Jelly FEST reached out to me about my film, Prude, and invited me to enter. I'm so glad I did because the JF team is very caring about what they're doing and each film. I'll definitely keep them in mind for my future projects! Highly recommend!
