RULES, GOALS AND PURPOSE
(HOFF) Horror Online Film Festival explores the new frontier of horror film festivals, embracing both underground cinema and commercial genre productions.
Created with the goal of bringing together the diverse currents of horror filmmaking in a fully online event, the festival promotes a creative competition between short films and feature-length films. It offers filmmakers, professionals, technicians and horror enthusiasts the opportunity to participate both as spectators and as competing artists.
The event pays tribute to horror cinema, from the exploitation era of the twentieth century to contemporary trends and new creative voices.
In addition to presenting new works, the festival encourages interaction through discussions, thematic initiatives, exhibitions and community activities. The online environment becomes a space for dialogue, commentary and discovery, helping to support and promote the growth of horror cinema worldwide.
ORGANIZERS
The Festival is organized by NetBridge Agency, a web management and social media strategy agency founded by Francesco Schirosi, in collaboration with Dip Fear | Horror Cinema Ranking, the ranking and editorial platform founded by Davide Sportelli.
EVENT DATES AND LOCATION
The Festival will take place during the week of the global Halloween celebration, specifically from October 26 to October 30, 2026. The event will be held entirely online through the official platform horroronlinefilmfest.it.
3.1 ANTI-PIRACY PROTECTION
The Horror Online Film Festival guarantees maximum protection for the selected works. All films will be screened through secure streaming systems with restricted and monitored access. The works may not be downloaded, copied or distributed outside the official festival platform.
Any unauthorized recording, reproduction or distribution of submitted content is strictly prohibited. The organization undertakes to adopt all reasonably necessary technical and organizational measures to prevent piracy and improper use of the works, respecting copyright and intellectual property rights.
While adopting appropriate security measures, the Festival cannot be held responsible for unlawful conduct by third parties such as unauthorized recordings, illegal copies or other copyright infringements beyond the direct control of the organization.
FESTIVAL STRUCTURE
The Festival includes two main competitions: the International Short Film Competition and the International Feature Film Competition. The program may also include discussions, thematic initiatives and interactive activities dedicated to horror cinema.
REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES
The International Short Film Competition is open to short films from all countries completed after September 1, 2020 and belonging to the horror or thriller genres. The maximum running time is 30 minutes including opening and closing credits. Films may have previously participated in or won other festivals.
The International Feature Film Competition is open to feature films from all countries completed after September 1, 2020 and belonging to the horror or thriller genres. The maximum running time is 210 minutes including opening and closing credits. Films may have previously participated in or won other festivals.
Submissions are accepted exclusively through the FilmFreeway platform and no entry fee is required. The submission deadline is July 31, 2026. During the submission period the Artistic Direction may conduct rolling selections and officially admit films to the competition before the final deadline.
The Festival accepts works that utilize artificial intelligence tools provided that the filmmaker clearly declares their use during the submission process. The Artistic Direction reserves the right to exclude works that lack significant human creative contribution or violate intellectual property rights.
Films may also participate by direct invitation from the Artistic Direction. Participation may be denied to works that technically cannot guarantee an adequate public screening.
Once a film has been officially selected and participation confirmed, withdrawal from the festival program is not permitted. Exceptional withdrawal requests may be considered only for serious documented reasons within fifteen days of the selection notification. Withdrawal after publication of the official program may result in exclusion from future editions of the Festival.
The filmmaker is responsible for ensuring that the screening file or streaming link provided to the Festival remains active, accessible and unchanged until the end of the Festival.
If a film becomes publicly available online on platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo or similar services before or during the Festival screenings, the Artistic Direction reserves the right to remove the film from the official program.
Premiere status is not mandatory but it will be considered a positive factor during the selection process.
Selected films will be announced by the second half of September 2026. Within eight days of notification filmmakers must provide a complete digital press kit including the film file in MP4 format (H.264 codec, HD quality, bitrate between 10 and 20 Mbps), technical sheet, synopsis, director biography or filmography, still images from the film, director photo, copyright declaration, official poster and trailer.
If the required materials are not received within the indicated timeframe the Artistic Direction may replace the film in the official selection.
Each filmmaker may submit multiple works but each film must be submitted separately through the FilmFreeway platform.
SUBTITLES AND SENSITIVE CONTENT
Due to the international nature of the festival subtitle files are recommended. English-language films should ideally include Italian subtitles while films in other languages should include English subtitles.
Films without dialogue or with minimal dialogue may be screened in their original version. If subtitles are not provided the Artistic Direction may generate subtitles using available tools. Minor translation inaccuracies may occur and the Festival cannot be held responsible.
Given the nature of the horror and thriller genres films may contain explicit violence or sensitive material. By submitting a film the filmmaker authorizes the Festival to include trigger warnings before the screening if deemed necessary.
SCREENINGS AND AWARDS
The screening schedule is determined by the Artistic Direction whose decisions are final. The program will be published on horroronlinefilmfest.it and on the official festival channels.
The Festival presents several awards including Best Feature Film awarded by a jury of excellence composed of leading horror film critics and industry professionals. Best Short Film awarded by a multidisciplinary jury composed of professionals and experts from the film and cultural sector. Critic Award awarded by a jury of journalists and film critics selected for the event. Creator Award awarded by a community of horror-focused creators and cinephile social media personalities. Social Award assigned by the audience through social media engagement monitored to prevent automated or fraudulent voting. Dark Web Award assigned by the Artistic Direction for cinematic merit and strong impact in communication and social media presence. AHIFF Award assigned by the Interfestival Partner Jury of the Apulia Horror Film Festival.
FINAL PROVISIONS AND RIGHTS
Participation in the Festival implies full acceptance of these rules. By submitting a film the participant grants the Festival the non-exclusive right to screen the work during the event.
The participant declares that they hold all necessary rights to the work including copyright, music synchronization rights and image rights of third parties appearing in the film. The participant guarantees that all music included in the work is legally licensed and indemnifies the Festival against any claims from third parties.
The Festival may use trailers, posters, still images and short excerpts of the film not exceeding ten percent of the total duration for promotional purposes across websites, social media, press outlets and digital channels. Promotional materials may also be archived by the Festival for documentation and historical purposes.
COMMUNICATIONS AND DISPUTES
All official communication between the Festival and filmmakers will take place exclusively through the email address info@horroronlinefilmfest.it
or through FilmFreeway messaging. Participants are responsible for monitoring these channels.
For any situation not covered by these rules the Festival Direction reserves the right to make final decisions. Submission to the Festival implies unconditional acceptance of these regulations.

(HOFF) Horror Online Film Festival rappresenta una nuova frontiera dei festival dedicati al cinema horror, accogliendo sia le produzioni underground sia quelle appartenenti al cinema di genere più commerciale.
Nato con l’obiettivo di riunire le diverse correnti del cinema horror in una manifestazione interamente online, il festival promuove una competizione creativa tra cortometraggi e lungometraggi offrendo a filmmaker, professionisti del settore, tecnici e appassionati la possibilità di partecipare sia come spettatori sia come autori in concorso.
L’evento rende omaggio alla tradizione del cinema horror, dall’exploitation del ventesimo secolo fino alle più recenti tendenze creative e alle nuove voci del genere.
Oltre alla presentazione delle opere selezionate il festival promuove momenti di confronto, iniziative tematiche e attività dedicate alla community. Lo spazio online diventa così un ambiente di scoperta, dialogo e interazione volto a sostenere e diffondere il cinema horror a livello internazionale.

DATE E LUOGO DELL’EVENTO
Il Festival si svolgerà dal 26 al 30 ottobre 2026 durante la settimana della celebrazione mondiale di Halloween e sarà interamente online attraverso la piattaforma ufficiale horroronlinefilmfest.it.
3.1 PROTEZIONE ANTIPIRATERIA
Horror Online Film Festival garantisce la massima tutela delle opere selezionate. Tutti i film saranno proiettati attraverso sistemi di streaming protetti con accesso limitato e monitorato. Le opere non potranno essere scaricate, copiate o distribuite al di fuori della piattaforma ufficiale del festival.
È severamente vietata qualsiasi registrazione, riproduzione o diffusione non autorizzata dei contenuti presentati. L’organizzazione si impegna ad adottare tutte le misure tecniche e organizzative ragionevolmente necessarie per prevenire fenomeni di pirateria e utilizzo improprio delle opere.
Pur adottando adeguate misure di sicurezza il Festival non potrà essere ritenuto responsabile per eventuali comportamenti illeciti posti in essere da terzi al di fuori del controllo diretto dell’organizzazione.
STRUTTURA DEL FESTIVAL
Il Festival comprende due concorsi principali: il Concorso Internazionale Cortometraggi e il Concorso Internazionale Lungometraggi. Il programma potrà includere inoltre incontri, iniziative tematiche e attività dedicate al cinema horror.
REQUISITI E SCADENZE
Il Concorso Internazionale Cortometraggi è aperto a opere provenienti da tutto il mondo completate dopo il 1° settembre 2020 e appartenenti ai generi horror o thriller con durata massima di 30 minuti.
Il Concorso Internazionale Lungometraggi è aperto a opere provenienti da tutto il mondo completate dopo il 1° settembre 2020 e appartenenti ai generi horror o thriller con durata massima di 210 minuti.
Le iscrizioni avvengono esclusivamente tramite la piattaforma FilmFreeway e non prevedono il pagamento di alcuna quota di partecipazione. La scadenza per l’invio delle opere è il 31 luglio 2026. Durante il periodo di iscrizione la Direzione Artistica potrà effettuare selezioni progressive ammettendo alcune opere prima della scadenza finale.
Il Festival accetta opere che utilizzano strumenti di intelligenza artificiale purché l’autore ne dichiari l’utilizzo in fase di iscrizione.
Una volta confermata la selezione l’opera non potrà essere ritirata dal programma del Festival salvo gravi motivi documentati entro quindici giorni dalla comunicazione della selezione.
Il filmmaker è responsabile di garantire che il file o il link di visione fornito al Festival rimanga attivo e accessibile fino alla conclusione della manifestazione.
Qualora un film risulti pubblicamente disponibile online su piattaforme come YouTube, Vimeo o servizi simili prima o durante le proiezioni del Festival, la Direzione Artistica si riserva il diritto di rimuovere l’opera dal programma ufficiale.
Lo status di premiere non è obbligatorio ma rappresenta un criterio di valutazione positivo durante il processo di selezione.
I film selezionati saranno annunciati entro la seconda metà di settembre 2026. Entro otto giorni dalla comunicazione gli autori dovranno fornire un Digital Press Kit completo contenente file del film, materiali promozionali e documentazione richiesta. In caso contrario la Direzione Artistica potrà sostituire l’opera selezionata.
SOTTOTITOLI E CONTENUTI SENSIBILI
Data la natura internazionale del festival si consiglia di fornire file di sottotitoli. I film in lingua inglese dovrebbero includere sottotitoli in italiano mentre i film in altre lingue dovrebbero includere sottotitoli in inglese.
Considerata la natura dei generi horror e thriller le opere possono contenere scene di violenza esplicita o contenuti sensibili. L’iscrizione dell’opera autorizza il Festival a inserire eventuali avvisi di contenuto prima della proiezione.
PROIEZIONI E PREMI
Il calendario delle proiezioni è stabilito dalla Direzione Artistica e le sue decisioni sono definitive. Il programma sarà pubblicato sul sito ufficiale e sui canali del Festival.
Durante il Festival saranno assegnati diversi premi tra cui Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Critic Award, Creator Award, Social Award, Dark Web Award e AHIFF Award.
DISPOSIZIONI FINALI E DIRITTI
L’iscrizione al Festival implica la piena accettazione del presente regolamento. Con l’invio dell’opera il partecipante concede al Festival il diritto non esclusivo di proiettare il film durante la manifestazione.
Il partecipante dichiara di possedere tutti i diritti necessari alla proiezione dell’opera e manleva il Festival da qualsiasi rivendicazione da parte di terzi.
Il Festival potrà utilizzare trailer, poster, immagini e brevi estratti dell’opera per finalità promozionali e di comunicazione.

Per ogni situazione non prevista dal presente regolamento la Direzione del Festival si riserva il diritto di prendere decisioni definitive. L’iscrizione al Festival implica l’accettazione incondizionata del regolamento.
