BAFTA & BIFA nominated director Gordon Napier is originally from the Highlands of Scotland and has a Master of Fine Art in Film Directing from The University of Edinburgh, his work there earned him the highly coveted UK Prince William BAFTA & Warner Bros. Film Scholarship. Through his career he has enjoyed varied experience in the film industry, everything from working in non-creative roles on large productions like Harry Potter, 007: Skyfall and The Avengers through to directing intimate documentaries in the Mongolian Gobi Desert, and directing narrative drama films back home in Scotland. His focus has been primarily directing fiction projects which explore the complexities of the human condition contextualised by what we all have in common - the natural world. Gordon's most recent film '1745' explores the story of two sisters torn from their home in Nigeria and sold into slavery in Scotland, where they escape their master and try to retake their freedom. He received the 'Jury Special Mention' at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2017, was nominated for a BAFTA & BIFA for 'Best Short Film', was a finalist at the Black International Film Festival in the UK and won 'Best Short Film' at the prestigious Africa International Film Festival and screened in competition at the BFI London Film Festival and the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
