Tassia Mila (gatopretopulando). I am sound and visual composer, weaver - I make hand-knit garments - and experimental artist with body, voice and other means, for the transmission and overflowing lines to the the transit of sounds, images, voices, music and atmospheres.
I compose sound and visual books, sonic and visual tales, stories and imaginations and research the practice in experimental cinema. I'm sewing and weaving conversations between time-spaces the generational transmissions, the survival of images, their presence, apparitions, persistence and their movement on the fabrics of time. Stitching together the experiences that I had so far and that transit along with the cosmology of my indigenous ancestry.
I was born and raised in Jequié-Bahia, Brazil and I descend from the indigenous Pataxós-Kiriris peoples. Currently I live and work in São Paulo, and study Visual Arts at University of São Paulo (USP), although, my path as an artist goes independently of my permanence in the academy.
I've been working with art and experimental music since I was 14 years old, when I joined the electronic music project Bolor 9, by the LSDiscos collective in São Paulo Capital City.
I lived in Germany for 5 years, from 2010 to 2015, in Cologne, Eberswalde and Berlin. In 2014, I started the composition and recording of the sound books Sewing the ocean and Weaving the land, which I'm currently working on in the mastering process.
The demos of the albums or books, as I like to call them, are available for listening on my website:
