Skyline Film Festival, in its inaugural year, at the nonprofit Barrymore Film Center in partnership with Castlight Media, celebrates the art and impact of cinema from around the world, with a special emphasis on cultural heritage and cross-cultural storytelling. Set in Fort Lee, New Jersey, the birthplace of American cinema, the festival brings filmmakers and audiences together in a historic setting that bridges the past and the future of film.

Filmmakers can look forward to:
* Four days of screenings, panels, and networking events in a state-of-the-art cinema built for filmmakers and film lovers.
* Industry panels and seminars featuring producers, distributors, critics, and festival programmers offering insight into the ever-changing film landscape.
* Filmmaker receptions and after-parties where creators, guests, and industry professionals connect and collaborate.
* Opportunities to engage with a passionate film audience in a community that values storytelling, innovation, and cultural expression.

Whether you’re an emerging filmmaker or an established voice, Skyline Film Festival provides a platform that honors artistic vision, celebrates diversity, and champions the universal language of film.

Fort Lee holds a singular place in American cinema, serving as the industry’s birthplace in the early 1900s, where pioneering filmmakers, studios, and artists created the foundational techniques of modern filmmaking. Even after Hollywood’s rise, Fort Lee remained a site of innovation through the 1930s and 1940s, hosting landmark productions such as Oscar Micheaux’s The Exile and The Betrayal, as well as early sound films and classic studio projects. Today, the Barrymore Film Center, opened in 2022 as a nonprofit cultural and educational institution, carries this legacy forward. By presenting film festivals, educational programs, exhibitions, live programming, and community events, BFC ensures that Fort Lee’s history not only lives on, but continues to inspire new generations of filmmakers and audiences. This film festival is a vital part of that mission, celebrating the art of cinema where it first began and creating a vibrant space for creativity, discovery, and cultural connection.
