FilmSlam has been a favorite of Florida's independent filmmakers since 2004 and continues to be a very popular screening series and networking community for independent and student filmmakers of all skill levels in Central Florida, and throughout the state of Florida!

Each screening will run for 60+ minutes and will be followed by a live-streamed Q&A with the crew and cast of each film!

Don’t be shy! Have a question about a film in the line-up? Ask one of the filmmakers! We’re sure they would appreciate your feedback! After every screening, filmmakers, cast, crew, and cinephiles will gather to talk about the films they just watched, current projects, and more!

FilmSlam began as a project of University of Central Florida's Downtown Media Arts Center (DMAC) in 2005. When DMAC closed in 2006, our venue changed to Enzian Theater where we held screenings until October 2019. All new seasons of FilmSlam will be held inside the SunTrust Theater within the Orlando Museum of Art!

Be sure to follow us on social media! @TheFIlmSlam #FilmSlam

Each month our audience will chose their Top 3 films via ballot vote, in person, at a given screening. Each month's Top 3 vote getters will be posted online on FilmSlam's Official website (www.thefilmslam.com) and across our social media channels shortly after each screening.

Monthly FilmSlam Audience Award winners will win a guaranteed screening at the Central Florida Film Festival!

SUBMISSIONS
There is NO submission fee, filmmakers! FilmSlam's submission period is open year round to all Florida Filmmakers. Film Students are always welcomed to submit their work for consideration. We are a Not Rated (NR) program and open to all genres of short film 20m minutes and under. Films over 20 minutes may be programmed at the discretion of our programmers.

We may also feature themed screening programs! Past themed months have included; FemmeSlam (featuring an all-female lineup), #OrlandoUnited/PrideSlam (featuring films by LGBTQ+ filmmakers and those celebrating Orlando in a post-Pulse world), and HorrorSlam (featuring an all-horror, suspense, and sci-fi lineup).

MONTHLY DEADLINES
Submissions for each screening month will be due by the 1st day of the previous month to allow time for programming and filmmaker notification. (Example: The deadline for a January screening would be December 1st.) Selected filmmakers will be notified 2-3 weeks prior to screening date. If your film is not selected for a given month, we will hold on to your entry for consideration for a future screening.

REQUIREMENTS
- A log line or up to 30 word, non-spoilery synopsis of your film.
- One (1) horizontal promotional still from your film. Please email jen@thefilmslam.com to complete your submission. (No poster art or behind the scenes images please.)

SCHEDULING
FilmSlam hosts 12 screenings a year at the Orlando Museum of Art. Each film accepted into FilmSlam will be allowed one (1) complimentary admission. FilmSlam has always been run as independently as the productions we screen, so please help keep us going by inviting your crews, casts, friends, and family to your screening! Ticket price is $11 per person.
