Based in Augsburg, Germany, the Lunessa International Filmfestival is a monthly online festival where outstanding films are officially selected and awarded every month throughout a 12-month season.
Each month, we announce our Official Selections and Monthly Award Winners. From this curated pool of monthly winners and selected works, we choose the most exceptional films in each category at the end of the season.
These finalists are then showcased on the big screen, where films truly belong. Bringing artists and audiences together is at the heart of what we do — because this is where the true magic of cinema comes to life.

Awards & Prizes

All selected films will receive an official selection laurel.

Monthly Awards:

Main Categories:
- Best Feature Film
- Best Documentary
- Best Short Film (5–30 minutes)
- Best Mid-Length Film (30–70 minutes)
- Best Super Short Film (up to 5 minutes)

Genre Awards:
- Best Drama
- Best Horror Film
- Best Thriller / Action Film

Craft Awards:
- Best Director
- Best Performance
- Best Cinematography
- Best Original Score

Special Award:
- Special Jury Award

All monthly winners automatically qualify for the annual season awards.

Annual Awards (Season Finale):
The best films of the 12-month season will be selected as finalists and invited for a live screening event in a cinema setting.

Winners of the annual awards will receive:
- Official Winner Laurel
- Certificate
- Trophy (for main categories)
- Screening on the big screen

Our goal is to give outstanding films the recognition they deserve—both online and on the cinema screen.

Rules & Terms

- The Lunessa International Film Festival is a monthly online festival with an annual live screening event.

- All films must be submitted via FilmFreeway.

- Films must have been completed after January 1, 2025.

- All genres are accepted.

- Films must include English subtitles if the original language is not English or German.

- Multiple entries are allowed, but each entry must be submitted separately.

- The submitter must own all rights to the film, including music and footage.

- Entry fees are non-refundable.

- Selected films may be promoted through our social media channels.

- Monthly winners automatically qualify for the annual competition.

- Finalists may be invited to a live screening event.

- By submitting, you agree that your film can be screened at the festival event.

- The festival reserves the right to make necessary changes to the event format.

- Decisions of the jury are final.
