Small films. Tight community. Big impact.

Ditmas Shorts Fest IS BACK for its second year this September, taking place in the heart of Ditmas Park, Brooklyn – home to a thriving working artist community and the festival’s inspiration. We want to see your work, share our own, and help inspire people to create.

This year’s festival opens Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026 with screenings and an awards ceremony at community stalwart Kent Theater. Other events – TBA – will be slated throughout the weekend alongside Brooklyn’s renowned Artmeggedon Festival.

But first, we need films! Submissions are open June 1, 2026 through Aug. 31, 2026.

Brooklyn Table Read!
Submit your short script for a chance to win a fully cast, filmed table read during the festival weekend. Details to come!

Rules & Terms

-All submissions must be under 45 minutes in length (including credits).
-All submissions must be MP4 or .MOV files.
-All submissions must be original to the artist.
-You retain ownership of your submissions but grant us a non-exclusive license to evaluate, screen, and promote them during our events using public information (e.g., title, synopsis).
-Winners are announced live on stage during the festival’s awards presentation, not beforehand.
You agree not to:
-Submit content that violates laws or intellectual property rights.
-Use our site for unauthorized commercial purposes.
