Theme: African Lens: Reflections, Resistances, and Revolutions

Last year, the African International Film Festival Saskatchewan held its first edition in the city of Regina with screenings held at La Cité and Shu Box Theatre, University of Regina, between September 10 - 13, 2025. Building on the success of our inaugural edition in 2025, which showcased African Stories as Universal Narratives, we’re now seeking films that reflect, resist, and revolutionize the narrative. We’re interested in feature films, documentaries, short films, AI films, essay films, and animations that explore African perspectives, histories, and cultures, as well as international films that resonate with our theme.

We invite filmmakers from Africa, Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Australia/Oceania, and Antarctica to submit their work, particularly those that highlight the experiences, challenge dominant discourses, and inspire change. We’re also eager to engage with film students and showcase their talents. Students from film schools and universities worldwide are invited to submit their films to the African International Film Festival Saskatchewan (AIFF-S). This is a unique opportunity to showcase your work, engage with international film enthusiasts, and experience the vibrant film festival circuit.

Deadline: July 15, 2026
Festival dates: September 23 - 26, 2026

Rules & Terms

By submitting a Film to the African International Film Festival Saskatchewan (AIFF-S) for festival consideration, the submitter (the "Applicant") represents that they have:

(a) Obtained consent from all owners, creators, writers, producers, and/or other authorized representatives or rights holders of the Film whose consent is necessary to submit the Film to AIFF-S (the "Festival Owners"), and have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms; and

(b) Acknowledged that no submission fees have been paid.

AIFF-S reserves the right to disqualify or reject any submission, at its sole discretion, that it deems not to be in the Festival’s best interest. This includes, but is not limited to, any Film that fails to comply, in whole or in part, with these Terms.

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, if any person connected to the Film is involved in or alleged to be involved in any situation or event that subjects them to public scandal, disrepute, widespread contempt, or public ridicule, violates AIFF-S’s Code of Conduct, or that could shock, insult, or offend the community or public morals or decency, or prejudice the Festival, AIFF-S has the right, at its sole discretion, to take any action it deems appropriate. This may include excluding the individual from attending the Festival and/or disqualifying the Film from participation in the Festival.
