An independent live screening festival that invites filmmakers from around the world to share their stories.

We have 4 main categories:

- National Shorts (Belgium)
- Documentary Worldwide
- Animation Worldwide

Additionally, we have separate awards for 'Best Flemish-Spoken Film' and 'Best Dutch Film.' You can find the complete list of 11 Awards below.

Our festival is honored to host a professional jury who will select the 9 prestigious awards. We also cherish audience participation with our 2 Audience Awards.

We're open to a diverse range of genres, including those less conventional like horror, Sci-Fi, or humor. At ISFF Kalmthout, we appreciate unique storytelling in all its forms.

All shorts with a running time of up to fifty minutes are welcome.

The winners can be interviewed on the spot. This interview can be published on our website(s) and social media + winner Trophy (if a representative is present) + certificate and laurel.

Rules & Terms

1. Movie files need to be in h.264/mp4 format for screening.
2. Movies should meet the minimum requirements of either 1280x720 pixels or 1920x1080 pixels (full HD).
3. Running time for short movies: up to fifty minutes.
4. Subtitling: Unless the dialogue is in Dutch or English, all movies must have English subtitles, BAKED IN.
5. The nominees will be asked to forward their movie via WeTransfer or a similar service to the email address: info@kortfilmfestivalkalmthout.be.
6. Submission fees are non-refundable.
7. The jury's decision is final. The festival reserves the right to modify the rules at any time.
8. We will never publish films without permission. However, we may use a brief clip for promotional purposes.
