Exciting news for our 6th season! After five incredibly successful years, hundreds of screened films, and earning our status as an 𝐈𝐌𝐃𝐛 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 and 𝐓𝐎𝐏 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖𝐄𝐃 festival worldwide under the name Barcelona Indie Awards, we are thrilled to announce a major milestone.

We have officially grown into the Barcelona Indie Festival. This new season brings a massive evolution. Our next event will be more than just a screening; we are introducing a 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐰𝐨-𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 in February 2027 at the legendary, oldest cinema in Barcelona: Cine Maldà. Here, we will be 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 $𝟏,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 alongside our brand-new, prestigious Golden Olive trophy.

𝐉𝐎𝐈𝐍 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝟐-𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐒𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓
These two amazing festival days will be packed with live screenings of the absolute best independent films from our Official Selection. Furthermore, attendees will enjoy exclusive masterclasses from our incredible jury, including OSCAR®-nominated and Berlinale-winning industry professionals. These sessions will provide valuable insights to elevate your filmmaking skills. We are also hosting a special networking dinner to create the perfect environment to connect with our honorable guests, fellow filmmakers, and industry insiders, culminating in a spectacular Gala Award Ceremony where we will officially announce and celebrate the winners.

𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐘 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐈𝐎𝐔𝐒 𝐉𝐔𝐑𝐘
We are exceptionally proud of the industry heavyweights who judge your films and attend our festival. We are honored to have OSCAR®-nominated director Ivan Goldschmidt as the Head of Jury at the Barcelona Indie Festival. His expertise greatly enhances our event, and he will be leading masterclasses to share his industry insights and deep understanding of the judging process. We are also thrilled to welcome Lucía G. Romero, a Berlinale award-winning Spanish director, as an Honorable Jury Member for Short Film. Her film CURA SANA, which previously screened with us, won the prestigious Crystal Bear for Best Short Film at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival. Joining them is Ian Sciacaluga, a Raindance® Nominee and proud returning Jury Member.

Our jury also includes internationally experienced filmmakers and producers such as BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning director Marcus P Liversedge, whose diverse credits range from directing hit Apple TV+ specials and A-list talent to producing independent short dramas; Todd Traina, whose films have premiered at Cannes, Sundance, and Toronto (including the Caméra d’Or-winning War Pony); and James Peter Rowat, a series producer behind global productions for BBC, Netflix, and FIFA World Cup broadcasts. Alongside them, creatives like Melissa de Cima bring experience working with major studios including Disney, Fox ensuring a diverse and industry-relevant perspective across all categories.

Our past seasons have shone with award-nominated brilliance. We have celebrated works by Alex Lora Cercos, winner of six New York Emmys® and finalist at the Oscars®-Student Academy Awards, alongside BAFTA-recognized talents like Shaun Clark, Freya Billington, Luke Andrews, and Piotr Szkopiak.
