The 23rd annual Bend Film Festival is confirmed to take place October 7th-11th 2026!
BendFilm expands its support of Independent Film by continuing to focus its competition program on new North American-made independent work. With the second year of our filmmaking retreat, BendFilm: Basecamp, we are continuing to double down on platforming emerging creators, creating a dedicated fall showcase for emerging narrative and documentary features. Films should have majority North American financing and/or should be shot in North American countries. They will be selected for originality of voice and quality of execution—an earmark of successful indie filmmaking. International feature submissions can still be considered for out-of-competition spotlight slots.
BendFilm's much loved shorts programs continue; we'll continue to program films from other regions for our shorts competition categories.
At the 2025 festival, 24 feature films and 62 shorts vied for prizes across eight main competition categories, curated by programmers from over 1500 submissions, originating from over 87 countries with 71% of submissions coming from the U.S.
Named as one of the "Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World" and a near-constant fixture of MovieMaker magazine's "50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee", BendFilm celebrates independent films and the risky, passionate, tough and talented people who make them. The 2025 festival screened 116 narrative and documentary features and short films, with 46% of all films directed by women. This year's 23rd Annual Festival runs from Wednesday, Oct. 7 - Sunday, Oct. 11, with most venues located in Bend's historic downtown and the nearby Old Mill District. $9,350 in cash prizes including $1,500 each for "Best Narrative Feature" and "Best Documentary Feature"!
