SeaDoc Work-in-Progress online screenings will be held virtually on zoom. In-person screenings will be at the Northwest Film Forum in Seattle. All screenings are subject to change to virtual screenings if COVID cases deemed are too high to gather safely.

ELIGIBILITY:

• Open to emerging and established filmmakers in the Pacific Northwest: director or primary producer (Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Montana).
• Documentary films: short, feature, series, and new media between the lengths of 5-100 minutes. Trailers and work samples are not accepted.
• Films must be at the late rough cut stage. Completed films, as well as early rough cuts, are ineligible.
• Independent documentary projects: director or producer owns copyright and retains full artistic, budgetary, and editorial control of the documentary project.
• No student films, works-for-hire, broadcaster-produced projects.
• Director must be present for the screening in person or digitally during covid 19. Other team members welcome. SeaDoc cannot cover travel expenses for in-person screenings. In 2021, all work-in-progress screening will be virtual.
• The applicant (Director or Producer) must be 18 years of age or older.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

SeaDoc screens films that align with our mission to cultivate and support an equitable and professional community of nonfiction storytellers. SeaDoc will not screen films that discriminate based on race, class, gender expression, sexual orientation, physical ability, nationality, immigrant status, and/or that promote hate speech or violence.

FORMAT:

Participants will register for the event and be emailed additional information prior to the event.

Introduction:
The event opens with a welcome from SeaDoc and an introduction to the program. The filmmaker will give a short introduction regarding what stage the project is at and the feedback they are seeking.

Screening:
Online - A viewing link and a temporary password will be added in the chat for members to watch the film independently. The Zoom meeting will be muted until it is time to return for discussion.
In-Person - Attendees will view the film together in a theatre.

Discussion:
After watching the film, attendees will complete a feedback form, followed by a feedback discussion. The filmmaker will be in attendance to hear audience feedback and will also be provided the completed feedback forms.

Closing:
Participants are highly encouraged to complete the online feedback form. Event concludes.

SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:

• A screening file must be submitted in the application and before the screening (if accepted):
• Zoom screenings require the film to be viewable online at a password protected link.
• In-person screenings require the film to be delivered at least one week prior to the screening in the following format:
Container: QuickTime or MP4
Codec: ProRes (preferred) or H264
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Audio: Stereo (embedded in file)
All non-English films must have English subtitles.

Note about accessibility: Since this is a rough cut, films in English will not have captions. Live captions will be available in Zoom for the discussion.
