Cabane à Sang (a bilingual play on words between Sugar Shack & the Blood Shed) is a non-profit Film Festival based out of Montreal, Canada. CàS specializes in Horror, Sci-Fi, Action, and Trash cinema from all over the world. The "Blood Shed" has a simple mission: Screen and Promote genre cinema in all its forms.

As a festival that focuses on genre cinema as a whole, we love the Weird, Nihilistic, Dark Comedies, Psychedelic Visuals, and Glitch Art. The eclectic and iconoclastic nature of our programming aims to bring back the vibes of grindhouse cinemas where you can have a beer and laugh as you catch a flick and never know what to expect.

With a particular love for Sci-Fi cinema, Cabane à Sang kicks off every year with a free screening both in person and a free live stream for fans of the genre. This allows fans and attending film industry professionals to connect.

Our most heated program, the PARTY POOPER SPECTACULAR TRASH FILM COMPETITION boasts the most outrageous local films, made specifically for the festival, following secret guidelines. Although the event is not accessible to everyone worldwide due to geographic limitations, CàS has begun collaborating with other festivals to export these greasy films for viewers around the world to enjoy these sweet French Canadian works of art.

Beginning in 2023, the KEEP IT WEIRD! program set off to showcase our love for the strange and absurd. Building this from the ground up, we had one goal in mind: Create an event where attendees will be left thinking WTF did I just watch, as they come out of the theater.

The ever-so-classic MIXED MEATS program is made up of the best AND the worst that horror and trash cinema have to offer. The CàS philosophy is simple: ENTERTAINMENT above all else. It is not solely about how good a film looks but about the journey. So you can expect films with anything from a lead actor named Gilles, who’s actually the director’s uncle, to maybe, the mighty Kevin Bacon!

With Cabane à Sang, the grease and juice do not stop at the festival. We have a multitude of off-festival screenings and collaborations with other festivals.

We are constantly pushing for genre cinema and filmmakers. This is at the core of the non-profit’s mission:

1. Screen Genre Cinema
2. Promote Genre Cinema
3. Create opportunities for the production of Genre Cinema

  • We are deeply honored that our short film “THE RESILIENCE” was nominated and officially selected for the Cabane à Sang – Montreal Horror and Trash Film Festival.

It is a privilege to be part of a festival that celebrates bold, raw, and unapologetic genre cinema, giving space to stories that challenge, disturb, and transform audiences through horror and experimental film language.

As director, I, Vadir Sottelo, want to sincerely thank the festival team for embracing our work and for supporting independent voices in horror cinema. This recognition means a great deal to our creative team and reinforces our commitment to continue exploring stories rooted in body horror, identity, and social reflection.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share “The Resilience” with such an engaged and passionate community.

Thank you, Montreal. Thank you Cabane à Sang.
