We Like 'Em Short Film Festival celebrates Animation and Comedic short films. We provide a platform for independent filmmakers, seasoned and emerging, to share their talent. This festival seeks original, entertaining animated and comedy shorts from around the world.

We Like ‘Em Short allows aspiring and professional filmmakers the chance to show their films in beautiful Baker City, a small community known for embracing the arts.

WLES was started in 2010 as a very small local festival featuring local and American filmmakers. In 2012 we began taking submissions online and thanks to that change, we’ve screened films from all over the world while still priding ourselves as a festival that showcases local and regional filmmakers.

WLES has seen it's share of international award winning shorts and hosted talented directors including Joan Gratz, Jim Blashfield. Mark Gustafson, Chel White, Paul Harrod, Doug Lussenhop, and Joanna Priestly in recent editions of this four day festival. WLES is centrally located at the historic Churchill School in Baker City, OR.

We were honored to receive the Ovation Award from the Oregon Festival and Events Association in 2014, which recognized us as the Best Fine Art or Performing Arts Festival in Oregon.

We receive hundreds of entries so - Be creative, make us laugh and keep it short.

Our short, "The Untranslatable Forest" took part on the official selection of the 2024 edition. We weren't able to assist but the communication with the festival was very fluid and they were able to accommodate a change in the time-slot due to premiere status necessity. on top of that, the communication with Brian was always very friendly!

While I was accepted, I couldn't attend the festival, however, the communication with the festival Director was great and I only wish I was able to make it.

This festival was made for films like ours. Short comedy film set in local pub where characters are drinking beer is in my opinion perfect match for evening at We Like 'Em Short 😀
