Lady Filmmakers Festival is a leading film festival known by Hollywood insiders and indie filmmakers alike for screening outstanding films from around the world and having world-class industry speakers at events. Lady Filmmakers is under the umbrella of the Lady Filmmakers Foundation, a 501c3 tax exempt charity. We screen excellent visual stories from women and men student filmmakers and seasoned award-winning professionals. Lady Filmmakers Festival is in its 9th year and celebrates women in leadership roles in the entertainment industry. Our Film Festival celebrates women filmmakers, artists, and musicians and the men who collaborate with them. We have an entire weekend of films, music, art, mentoring workshops/panels and of course parties! We promote and support opportunities for artistic and career growth through our many different workshops, panels and networking events. We look for extraordinary visual storytellers for our programming. The festival encourages collaboration between men and women currently in the industry and to instill this idea within future filmmakers. Our speaker series and events are designed to help our filmmakers expand their network and further career goals. Lady Filmmakers is a safe environment to exhibit works and to find future collaborators and mentors. The festival promotes diversity and strong female lead driven content. We wish to INSPIRE & ENTERTAIN!

Screenings and majority of festival events take place at the Wilshire Screening Room in Beverly Hills, CA.

Although this was a small festival, everyone there was incredibly dedicated to helping each other succeed in the industry. I left the festival with lots of connections and optimism.

Experience working with this festival was pleasant until it turned passive aggressive. Communication and support was clear and supportive going into the fest; last-minute accommodations were made for badges for guests (although the additional security of ID photos seemed unnecessary for the size of the festival). The tone shifted after our filmmakers could no longer attend screening, and then the matter of our exhibition copy return--while understandably delayed at first by the organizer's schedule--was pushed back a month further by ignored multiple email and phone requests. The final impression left by organizers was that they were doing our film a favour, rather than operating from a place of mutual respect.

    Response from festival:

We are sorry these filmmakers had a bad experience. However, they did not attend the festival and we did everything in our power to please them and attempted to make accommodations for several last minute big requests. Regarding getting their dcp, we notify filmmakers upon acceptance that arrangements need to be made in advance for their exhibition copy. Requests were made after the festival. When they were told we were out-0f-town and their copy was in storage for safe keeping this was upsetting to them. Nothing we did seemed to make them happy which is unfortunate because we aim to make our festival experience enjoyable for everyone. It's a shame no-one was able to attend from their cast or crew.

The organizers are a class act. Great respectable festival. Well attended. Our film was well received and we saw a lot of other quality films. I'm so honored to have been a part of this classy niche festival that highlights women in film!
