The 1st International Film Festival of Oranjemund is a non-profit and free screenings festival, which is hosted in the sleepy town of Oranjemund. The conceptual team sought to create an opening for Oranjemund as an artistic hub for film in the mind of the town and the international community at large. Oranjemund is unique as a source of inspiration for film and other artistic practices alike. With the rolling dunes of the Namib desert to the west, the Atlantic ocean to the east, the pristine mouth of the Orange River to the south and the Sperrgebiet nature reserve to the north; there is no shortage of landscape to draw on and to document.

The themes for the festival for 2017 can be an interpretation of the following Openess, Change & Conservation.
