Green Screen is the only environmental film series in the english speaking Caribbean. The event celebrates internationally acclaimed films with an environmental or sustainability focus, but also embraces regional and locally produced documentaries, narrative, animation and experimental films. Sustain T&T, the producers of Green Screen, have also been developing documentary content locally and use the event as a platform to engage and educate the general public about environmental issues in an entertaining way.
GREEN SCREEN Environmental Film Festival was created by Sustain T&T, an environmental and sustainability education non-profit, to bring environmental messages to the public through the medium of film.
The Covid-19 pandemic brought many challenges with it in 2020. Our festival is usually focussed on face-to-face events where our audience, visitors and sustainability stakeholders can meet and exchange ideas. Of course, this was not a possibility in 2020. However, we were able to shift to an online platform, leveraging the social media space.
Going forward festival filmmakers can expect that their films may be screened via our social media pages, website, television or other media channels as we continue to adapt to the shifting festival environment.
While we will continue to leverage new exhibition opportunities we also hope to bring face-to-face screenings and other events back when it is safe to do so. Stay abreast of festival developments via our social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @greenscreentt
