Glasgow Film Festival is one of the three largest film festivals in UK and in both 2015 and 2016 welcomed audiences of over 40,000. The festival encompasses a vast programme of contemporary world cinema, classics, boundary-pushing experimentations and geek fun. GFF is also fast becoming one of the premiere locations for event cinema, with film experiences involving ball-room dancing, murder mysteries, treasure hunts and roller discos all taking place.
Awards & Prizes
In 2015, Glasgow Film Festival launched its inaugural Audience Award, asking the GFF ticket-buying audience to vote on a shortlist of ten films from first or second-time directors chosen by the festival programming team. This award runs in conjunction with GFF’s Pioneer strand, which celebrates the festival’s reputation for picking great early films from future cinema masters, and is designed to bring greater profile to some of the most exciting new cinema talents in the world. The GFF16 Audience Award was won by Deniz Gamze Erguven's Oscar-nominated Mustang.
