The Dissident Film Festival is an annual international film festival held in Maun, Botswana, which previews new short films of all genres, from all around the world. Founded in 2016, festival is held annually (usually in Novembar).
Dissident Film Festival was founded with the intention to integrate, in a single space, different players in the audiovisual environment. The exhibition seeks to promote truly independent productions, as well as their auteurs, producers, and purveyors. DFF aims to highlight creative, aesthetic and narrative audiovisual works not typically found in conventional circuits; works that revitalize the medium with their authenticity, expressive power and thoughtful content.
Dissident Film Festival are the country’s leading producer of open air cinema events. We use state of the art screens, digital projectors and bespoke sound equipment to provide a cinema quality visual and audio experience, but with the magic of being under the stars, near the Thamalakane River.
