DaVinci International Film Festival: Cinema Engineered by Imagination.

In a world overflowing with "content," the DaVinci International Film Festival (DIFF) stands as a sanctuary for the Auteur. We don't just screen movies; we celebrate the Unseen Architecture of cinema. Inspired by our namesake, we look for the "Golden Ratio" of filmmaking—that rare moment where technical skill meets a powerful story.

Hosted at the iconic AMC Theatres at The Grove in Los Angeles, DIFF is an intentionally boutique, 5-star destination for filmmakers who view their work as a Masterwork, not just another digital file. We celebrate the multidisciplinary spirit through our signature Disciplines (categories). From our GENiUS ultra-short program to our Storyline competition, we provide a world-class platform for the cinematic engineer and the artist alike.

As a TOP REVIEWED festival, we pride ourselves on a high-level curation process that values the filmmaker and screenwriter above the noise. At DaVinci, we don't just hand out an Official Selection; we validate your vision and honor the craft it took to get there.

Join the Modern Renaissance. Show us your masterwork!

Awards & Prizes:

• The Leo Award®: The Weight of Excellence. The Leo is not merely a trophy; it is a museum-grade, custom masterpiece. It is a certification of excellence, awarded to those who have mastered their discipline and pushed the boundaries of the medium.
• Industry Synergy: Winners receive tools and opportunities through our sponsors and partners, including Final Draft, ensuring the "Modern Renaissance" filmmaker has the blueprints to continue their evolution.

Signature Disciplines (categories):

We frame our categories as The Disciplines to honor the craft behind the format:

• Narrative Feature & Short
• Documentary
• Storyline / The Writers' Corner
• GENiUS (ultra-short)
• Junior Leo Awards (student)

Rules & Terms:

The DaVinci Standard: DIFF maintains a rigorous curation process. We prioritize technical excellence, innovative perspective, and films that push the boundaries of their respective disciplines. We do not seek "content"; we seek vision.

Submission & Participation: All films must be submitted via FilmFreeway digital screener.

Premiere Status: While we prefer Los Angeles premieres, we prioritize the quality of the masterwork above all else.

Selection: All selected filmmakers will be notified via FilmFreeway.

Attendance: We highly encourage our filmmakers to attend our red-carpet events at The Grove to participate in The New Patronage—our series of executive panels including FilmBC, FilmAsia, and Digital Hollywood.

Exclusivity: As a boutique festival, we offer intimate networking and high-level exposure. Selected films are eligible for the prestigious Leo Award.

Legal: By submitting, the filmmaker warrants they have all necessary rights and releases for public screening.

For DIFF Storyline (screenwriting) competition, please visit storylinefestival.com for a full list of rules and qualifications:

1. All non-English speaking films must be presented in their original version with English subtitles.
2. Short Film Entries should not exceed 40 minutes in duration including titles and credits.
3. Films previously entered into DIFF are not eligible for re-entry in subsequent years.
4. All submissions are screened and evaluated by the DIFF Jury and Selection Committee, appointed by the Executive Director. Their reports are final and confidential. Long and short format films that are received by DIFF and given Official Selection status, will be screened at our Live Event Showcase Event.

6. ONE ENTRY FEE PER CATEGORY. The same film can be entered into more and one category, but each category requires a separate entry fee. If the filmmaker chooses to enter more than one category with the same film, please add an incremental numerical addendum in brackets after the title; i.e. "Film Title" (1), "Film Title" (2), etc. as the system requires this differentiation in the case of multiple entries with the same title.
7. Student filmmakers with valid student ID may compete in DIFF's FREE-TO-ENTER Jr. Leo Awards program. High School, College, University, and Trade (Vocational) are eligible. ID's will be verified with institutions. Learn more at https://davincifilmfestival.com/junior-leo-program/
8. All entries must be submitted via the FilmFreeway.com portal. Please DO NOT send us any material unless requested.
9. Unfortunately, we DO NOT accept works in progress at this time.
10. DIFF Storyline (screenwriting) competition series are responsible for reviewing eligibility and rules at storylinefestival.com prior to submission.

  • The DaVinci International Film Festival truly stands out for its professionalism, heart, and dedication to filmmakers. The venue was fantastic - beautifully organized screenings, great technical presentation, and a wonderful setting that made every event feel special. What impressed us most was the genuine attention and care the organizers showed toward each filmmaker. From communication to hospitality, everything felt personal and thoughtfully handled.

There’s an undeniable family atmosphere at DaVinci - a place where filmmakers connect, celebrate, and feel part of a creative community. It’s rare to find a festival that combines prestige and warmth so naturally.

We’re deeply grateful for the recognition The Ride received here and will absolutely be returning with our next project. If you’re a filmmaker considering where to submit, DaVinci Film Festival should be at the top of your list!

We had a wonderful experience with this thoroughly professional and well organized film festival. We could not be more honored that our film, “Filming Under Fire: John Ford’s Field Photo Branch,” received the award for Best Short Documentary.

  • This festival was like a hidden Gem. It was so down to earth and warm. They really care about their filmmakers and all communication was so good before and during the festival. The curation of films were selected very well too. I have been telling people about the festival since we got back. I for sure will submit again! Made some great connections too!
