I was excited to get in to this festival. The director called me personally to let me know I was selected. That was a great feeling.

I flew out to LA from Iowa and arrived at my screening. The event was actually screening in a theater with a professional sound system and projector. While I had my film mixed to industry standard dialog levels, but it was far too quiet to even hear, and the sound design was basically useless. My guess is they set the volume low to account for the other no-budget, non-professionally mixed films playing after mine with ultra loud youtube level dialog. It was disappointing that nobody was there to actually adjust the volume individually - at least none that I noticed. Ultimately, none of that really mattered, unfortunately, because there was nobody in the theater to see my film. The only people there were sitting outside in the hallway waiting for their film to start. This was at roughly 10 a.m. in the morning. Essentially I spent 800 dollars on a ticket and rental car to watch my movie alone in a theater at 10 a.m. on a weekday :-(

I am pretty disappointed that i spent a lot of money to attend a festival and there was nobody at my screening, but I don't know who is to blame for this. It is simply unfortunate, and the only reason I mention it is so people can better decide if they want to spend the money to fly out to attend their festival if they are selected. Otherwise the staff seemed nice, and they notified me on-time. Their website is also actually running and has content on it (can't believe this is a thing we as filmmakers even have to worry about in the film festival market, but it is).

Thank you for featuring and awarding my project! I wish I could have attended in person but perhaps in the future!
