With a resounding YES it became clear after the first edition in 2015 that Animation Day in Cannes fills a void in the animation community and specifically at the largest festival in the world (Cannes gathers 30 000 professionnals each year, 5000 media).

Key investors, partners and creators in Cannes will find a new home for networking and benchmarking on animation and associated indutries and technologies (we love VR, don't you?)
Animation Day in Cannes includes the competition: Animaze Daze in Cannes.

A great location but unfortunately their quality standards are quite low. One of their screenings was from a PC laptop and the one operating it didn't even know how to make the video full screen. Some of the content was too large for the laptop to process and the videos were played in random order. Then someone started to soundcheck a piano in the same room very loudly while the screening was still going on. Everyone left. A lot of people were unsatisfied. Hopefully it will be better next year.

    Response from festival:

The main screening (for BUYERS and MEDIA) was at Palais B with Marché du Film top notch quality and standards, we offered an ENCORE screening at our nnetworkig venue: salon renaissance to share films between registered guests so they could mingle and network) Some filmmakers submitted indeed their work in a format which was not suitable and cause some stability problems, WE LEARNT nad willnot accept them next year.

I was not able to attend Animation Day in Cannes in person this year but I have seen the care and attention surrounding the event. Attending in the future--as soon as possible!!!--is definitely on my "bucket list". Many thanks to the organizers, and "Stay Animated!"
