AnimArte Festival: A global stage for student and professional animators.

The AnimArte Festival is dedicated exclusively to animated short films !!
The maximum duration for each film is 15 minutes.

AnimArte is an international festival of animated films made by children, young people, and professionals, aimed at young audiences.

In 2026, the 19th edition of AnimArte will be held, and the festival will celebrate its 25th anniversary. It will take place in October in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

For international students, there are two competitive categories: Maxi (for animated films made by students aged 18 and older) and Mini (for animated films made by students under 18).

For international professionals, there are two categories: “Environmental Films” and “World Cultures.”

Selected films will be screened according to the program prepared by the festival’s organizing team.

If a film contains dialogue in a language other than Portuguese, a text file with the dialogue in English (preferably with timecode) must be submitted to: animarte@vouanimarte.com.br

A version of the film with English subtitles is welcome to facilitate translation and subtitling into Portuguese; however, the version to be screened at the festival must be submitted without subtitles.

There are also two exclusive categories (for animated short films only) for students enrolled in educational institutions in Brazil: Maxi (university students) and Mini (high school and elementary school students).

Rules & Terms

Only films containing at least 70% (seventy percent) animation (in any technique) will be accepted.

Each director may submit a maximum of 5 (five) animated short films.
A representative of a film school or a production company may submit an unlimited number of films, as long as they are made by different directors.

Only films completed after June 2024 and that have not previously been submitted to the AnimArte Festival will be accepted.

ANIMARTE GRAND PRIX (TRAVELING PROGRAM)

Following the 19th AnimArte Festival, a selection of films submitted in various categories will be chosen by the
AnimArte curatorial team. This traveling version of the festival, the AnimArte Grand Prix, will tour cities across Brazil,
as well as selected international locations.

At certain stages of the AnimArte Grand Prix, the films will be evaluated by a local jury appointed in each host city, which will grant specific awards. These competitive stages will be announced in advance by the AnimArte team.

At the conclusion of the AnimArte Grand Prix tour, following the final competitive stage, the overall winners will be determined based on the cumulative results from all competitive stages.

A ranking based on the overall score of each film across the different stages of the AnimArte Grand Prix will be continuously updated and made available on the AnimArte Festival website and social media channels.

On the AnimArte Festival website, an Authorization Form is available, through which filmmakers may choose to allow their films to be included in this traveling program.

Screening dates, times, and locations will be announced in advance by the event coordination.
