Oggi più che mai è necessaria una forma di RESILIENZA, individuale e collettiva, una forma di sopravvivenza agli eventi in corso. Una riorganizzazione di intenti, per un nuovo equilibrio tra uomo e natura fondato sul rispetto. Noi crediamo che l’arte tutta – e in questo caso l’arte cinematografica – possa fornire gli strumenti per questo tipo di resilienza attiva. Uno sguardo creativo sul mondo esteriore e su quello interiore, dove i punti di vista oggettivo e soggettivo si confondono, provocando domande e suggerendo risposte.
La tematica di Ferrara Film Corto Festival vuole relazionarsi con le grandi sfide globali e contemporanee: la nuova pandemia di Coronavirus, il cambiamento climatico – che riguarda tutti noi, nessuno escluso – ma anche il cambiamento radicale dello stile di vita, del modello collettivo, del paradigma dominante. Un nuovo mondo, ma anche una nuova musica, come espressione dell’empatia e delle emozioni più umane. Perché crediamo fermamente che l’ambiente sia musica, a cavallo tra armonia e disarmonia. Una sinfonia in divenire, un paesaggio sonoro a cui tutti partecipiamo, come voci soliste, come orchestrali, talvolta come auditori.
Il filo rosso dell’evento è rappresentato dal tema AMBIENTE è MUSICA, ovvero l’esplorazione della relazione tra ambiente sonoro e ambiente naturale, nel tentativo di mettere in risalto la cultura del patrimonio naturale, del patrimonio sonoro di ogni popolazione e del patrimonio scientifico che caratterizza l’innovazione contemporanea. Innovazione è anche la parola chiave che racconta la proiezione dei film in concorso, provenienti da tutto il mondo e accomunati dalla sensibilità per le tematiche sociali trattate.
Ferrara Film Corto vuole essere un Festival di carattere nazionale e internazionale, la cui attenzione è dedicata in prevalenza agli autori di cinema, alle professionalità sommerse, alle maestranze artistiche, ai filmmaker “indie” e agli appassionati che arricchiscono la cultura del cinema. Ferrara Film Corto Festival, in quanto realtà culturale e di promozione sociale, riconosce l’importanza e la centralità dell’incontro con gli autori, di qualsiasi età e provenienza, per dare voce e rilievo alla creatività di un settore in costante evoluzione.
A tale scopo, la VI Edizione del Festival prevede tre categorie di partecipazione:
• “AMBIENTE È MUSICA”: categoria aperta ad autori nazionali e internazionali di qualsiasi età, che dovranno interpretare il tema “AMBIENTE È MUSICA” in maniera del tutto personale, mediante il linguaggio cinematografico. La categoria è aperta a ogni genere di cortometraggio.
• “BUONA LA PRIMA”: categoria aperta ad autori italiani, o residenti in Italia, di qualsiasi età e dedicata unicamente a opere prime, a tema libero. La categoria è aperta a ogni genere di cortometraggio.
• "INDIEVERSO": categoria aperta ad ogni genere di cortometraggio, a tema libero, purché di produzione indipendente. La categoria è aperta ad autori nazionali e internazionali di qualsiasi età.
FERRARA FILM COMMISSION APS
Città da sempre raccontata da straordinarie voci e immagini, ha potuto godere di molte figure di riferimento nel cinema nazionale e internazionale: Michelangelo Antonioni, Pupi Avati, Arnoldo Foà, Giuliano Montaldo, Fabio Pittorru, Renzo Ragazzi, Folco Quilici, Carlo Rambaldi, Florestano Vancini, Marco Ferreri, Ettore Scola, Mario Soldati, Cesare Bastelli, Bernardo Bertolucci, Vittorio De Sica solo per citare alcuni tra i nomi i più famosi. Artisti che hanno impresso su celluloide fatti storici, emozioni, vissuti, sogni, rendendoli indelebili, sottraendoli al tempo.
Ferrara ha sentito la necessità di sviluppare una propria e indipendente “Film Commission”, volendo far crescere all'interno delle mura le potenzialità della città in cui nasce, promuovendo il cinema, il documentario urbano e naturalistico, i video promozionali e pubblicitari e i video d'arte, portandola oltre i confini estensi: nell'orizzonte, sterminato, dell'immaginario.
Lo scopo che si propone “Ferrara Film Commission APS” è, oltre al supporto dell'industria del cinema nazionale ed estero, il sostegno a registi giovani ed emergenti, fino alla produzione locale di corti e lungometraggi e di video, con lo scopo di favorire l'ingresso nel mercato, l'occupazione giovanile e la distribuzione del materiale realizzato.

Today more than ever a form of individual and collective RESILIENCE is needed, a form of survival to the current events. A reorganization of purpose, for a new balance between man and nature, based on respect. We believe that all arts - and in this case cinematographic art - can provide the tools for this type of active resilience. A creative gaze on the external and internal world, where the objective and subjective points of view are confused, causing questions and suggesting answers.
The theme of Ferrara Film Corto Festival wants to relate to the great global and contemporary challenges: the new Coronavirus pandemic, climate change - which affects all of us, no one excluded - but also the radical change in lifestyle, as well as the collective model and the dominant paradigm. A new world, but also a new music, as an expression of empathy and of the most human emotions. Because we firmly believe that the environment is music, between harmony and disharmony. A symphony in the making, a soundscape in which we all participate, as solo voices, as orchestral instruments, sometimes as listeners.
The red thread of the event is represented by the theme ENVIRONMENT IS MUSIC, that is the exploration of the relationship between sound environment and natural environment, in an attempt to highlight the culture of natural heritage, the sound heritage of each population and the scientific heritage that characterizes contemporary innovation. Innovation is also the key word that tells the projection of the films in competition, coming from all over the world and sharing the sensitivity for the social issues dealt with.
Ferrara Film Corto wants to be a national and international festival, whose attention is mainly devoted to film authors, submerged professionals, artistic workers, ‘indie’ filmmakers and enthusiasts who enrich the culture of cinema. Ferrara Film Corto, as a cultural and social promotion reality, recognizes the importance and centrality of meeting with authors, of any age and origin, to give voice and importance to the creativity of a sector in constant evolution.
To fulfill this purpose, the VI Edition of the Festival contemplates three categories of participation:
• ‘ENVIRONMENT IS MUSIC’: category, open to national and international filmmakers of any age, who will have to interpret the theme ‘ENVIRONMENT IS MUSIC’ in a completely personal way, through the cinematographic language. The category is open to all kinds of short films.
• ‘BUONA LA PRIMA’: category open to Italian authors, or residents of Italy, of any age and dedicated only to first-time short films, with a free theme. The category is open to all kinds of short films.
• 'INDIEVERSE': category open to any genre of short film, free themed, as long as it is independently produced. The category is open to national and international filmmakers of any age.

Ferrara felt the need to develop its own and independent ‘Film Commission’, with the desire to grow within its walls the potential of the city itself - with the desire of promoting cinema, urban and naturalistic documentary, promotional and advertising videos, as well as video art, taking it beyond the city boundaries, in the endless horizon of the imaginary.
In addition to the support of the national and foreign film industry, the aim of ‘Ferrara Film Commission’ is to support young and emerging directors, up to the local production of shorts and feature films and videos, with the aim of promoting their entry into the market, youth employment and distribution of the produced material.
