Located in the midst of the picturesque landscape of the Dolomites, Val Gardena is home to the film festival of highest altitude in Italy.
The Documentary Competition is focussing on documentary films from the Alpine region. Films have to outline or visualize the geographical area of the Alps in at least one of its eight countries. At least 10 percent of the film need to have been shot there.
The Short Film competition is dedicated to local offspring from South Tyrol and neighboring provinces.
Also, the DOLOMITALE Filmfestival ist the first feature length film festival located in the Rhaeto-Romance language area, thus is putting a special effort on this minority language spoken in Italy and Switzerland.
