The ninth edition of CineLibri International Book to Film Festival is to be held in the autumn - 6th-29th of October 2023. As the venerators of this gorgeous event already know, it’s a showcase of the best book-to-screen adaptations completed during the last year or two. This autumn, an especially important part of the festival will be the short film module.
That is why, now CineLibri is looking for inventive, distinctive, outstanding short book-to-screen adaptations from all over the world!
Why should you apply for participation in this competition?
Proven to be the world’s first international book&movie festival, CineLibri is an extraordinary annual event, inspired by the fruitful interaction of arts – cinema and literature, in particular. It is held in Sofia and other district centres in Bulgaria every autumn, and shows the best examples of film adaptations based on significant literary works - contemporary, modern or classic. The festival is an extremely important, independent showcase for high-quality European film productions and co-productions.
CineLibri encompasses official selection of competing films, both full-length feature films and short films, and parallel programme of films out of competition. All of them are based on books or inspired by literary works.
From the very beginning, CineLibri includes attractive educational modules, e.g. lectures, panel discussions with visiting experts, masterclasses and workshops, open literary premieres and meetings with famous film producers, screenwriters, directors, composers, actors etc., various informal events featuring the special guests of the festival. The meetings with established European and world creators and talented young professionals in the field of cinema and all the accompanying events with dignified speakers and guests aim at promoting Europe’s cultural heritage and contemporary European cinema and literature.

We are about to select the most inventive book-to-film adaptations and they will be part of the official CineLibri selection.
