For over 20 years, director, producer and DoP Christian Baumeister has received international acclaim for his productions. Christian is known for his award-winning, breathtaking cinematography and detailed animal behavior.

He has produced and directed more than 35 feature programs, including five major series, with leading broadcasters such as ARD, NDR, WDR, ZDF, BBC, ARTE, ORF, HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, Smithsonian Channel, Terra Mater and National Geographic.

Passionate about wildlife photography from a very young age, Christian studied biology in Germany and wildlife filmmaking in the UK. Since Light & Shadow was established in 2001, Christian has built up a unique knowledge and expertise in filming spectacular animals and special places across South America, Asia, Europe and Africa. His 3-part series “The Wild Andes” has been nominated for 2 EMMY Awards in 2019.
