CHRIS FURBY BIOGRAPHY- Brief Notes
Chris Furby: Artist, curator, short filmmaker, and photographer.
Educated at Camberwell School of Art, London. BA 3D Design. Worked in Community Art at the Great Georges Community Cultural Project in Liverpool for two years. I had my first experiences of using video there. Worked as an assistant to a sculptor, as a graphic designer at the fringes of the music industry, and as a contributor of photomontage to various magazines. Commissioned by Channel 4 TV to make video pilot in its early years.
Since 2002 have concentrated on the production of short digital films. Associated in the past with the artist’s film website Tank TV when Laure Prouvost was the editor, until it was discontinued . My work has been shown at various film festivals and art venues around the world.
Lives in London.
Asked by the director of flEXiff Sydney I served on the animation jury of the 38th Roshd International Film Festival. Tehran, Iran. November 1st.-7th. 2008.
Curated a mixed programme the Milgi Lounge in Cardiff. (www.milgilounge.com) Showing January 2010. Artists included,
Laure Prouvost (France/UK) Stefan Walke (Germany) Istvan Laszlo (Romania) and Mathieu Delvaux (Belgium)
2011-12 Co-Founder of the ‘Outhouse Cinema’ at the Milgi Lounge in Cardiff. Curated the first three video art programmes.
Recent film screenings (2014-16) include: The Stuttgarter Filmwinter.
